PAIGNTON ZOO

Since the new owners took over Paignton Zoo, a major multimillion-pound refurbishment programme has been underway. Working as principal contractor within a live zoo has brought a unique set of challenges, from managing members of the public to coordinating works around live animals and a constantly changing environment.

It is exactly the kind of dynamic, fast-paced project where the experience and adaptability of the Dyson team come into their own. Working closely with the design team and Libéma, we have been bringing ambitious plans to life while maintaining the highest standards of safety, coordination and workmanship.

One of the standout projects so far has been the construction of the new white rhino enclosure. The works included importing approximately 250 tonnes of boulders, constructing new retaining walls, installing bespoke chestnut fencing and undertaking specialist steel fencing and engineering works - all delivered within an exceptionally tight programme ahead of the arrival of the new rhinos: Khulu and Benja.

Our work at Paignton Zoo continues, with the refurbishment of the giraffe enclosure and construction of the new zebra enclosure currently underway. We’re proud to be playing a part in the transformation of the zoo and look forward to sharing more of what’s coming next.
